Window tints are thin laminate films that are applied to the interior or exterior of your vehicle's glass. Window tints are rated from 0% to 100%. This percentage represents the  amount of light that the window tinting  film allows to pass through. A film with a higher percentage rating will allow more light to pass through, while a film with a lower percentage rating will prevent the light from passing through and be darker in color.

The window tinting process

To have a window tint applied to your vehicle, whether light or dark, the process usually follows the steps as detailed below:

1. The preparation

Prepping the vehicle is the most important step because it prevents the installer from having dirt and debris stuck between the film and the windows.

2. Measuring and cutting

As with paint protection film, the window film has to be properly measured out to fit the size of each of the windows.  There is a slight shrink that occurs, and at that moment we mold the film to the natural curvature of the glass.

3. Smooth edges

An expert installer will smooth the edges of the film against a peel board to set it straight, refine it, and prevent it from peeling off with frequent rolling up and down.

4. Installation phase

The installer now must apply the film on the interior surface of the window. To do this, we have to apply soapy water that acts as adhesive to glue the films to the windows. He then pushes out any excess solution from the sides of the window tinting film.

5. Drying

After the installation phase has been completed, the tinting professional now has to simply let the solution and the film dry out.
